Start With a Proper Paint Job
Before we even get into maintenance, let’s make one thing clear: not all painted kitchens are created equal.
If your cabinets were professionally sprayed or hand-painted with the right prep, primer, and a decent topcoat, they’ll hold up well with a bit of care. But if someone slapped on a coat of emulsion from the bargain bin without even sanding first? Well… you’re going to be fighting a losing battle from the off.

Over time, steam can soften the paint, especially in corners and on panel joins — and that’s where flaking starts.
